EA released the gameplay trailer for the Gulf of Oman level. This map will be included in the Battlefield 3 expansion pack: Back to Karkand, which is due out later this month. The trailer shows off some of the enhanced destruction, jet gameplay, and map layout. We also got teased with a new, unannounced vehicle for Battlefield 3: the forklift, which can be seen in the trailer below.
Back to Karkand is set to be released next month, the Asian division of Sony’s Playstation website posts the release date on December 7th for PS3 players. PS3 users were granted one week of early access to all of Battlefield 3’s DLC, so PC and Xbox 360 players will have access to the Back to Karkand pack starting on the 14th.
DICE/EA has yet to comment on the matter, but seeing as it’s an official Playstation website, the information on here should be very accurate.
Gamespot UK got hands on with the Back to Karkand expansion pack which features new footage and commentary for all four of the maps. You can check out their opinions on this new Battlefield 3 DLC below.
2K Sports has announced the ‘Legends Showcase’ downloadable content will release on Tuesday November 29th for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. The DLC will go for $10 and features a cel-shaded art style with various “blacktop” modes and HORSE. It also will unlock the ability to edit historic team rosters offline as well as provide the opportunity to use the historic teams in online match-ups against others who have purchased the DLC.
As documented over the build-up from its early discovery to the announcement and now its release the DLC is being delivered under just about the worst possible circumstances. Beyond even the league lockout severely damaging interest in the product is that the content of the DLC has been received poorly, which began with the pricing and first screenshots that displayed the art style, and recently amplified with the gameplay videos that prompted stunningly widespread negative response. Still, its a significant offering considering the work that went into it, and one that could be justified in value for some consumers.
The full roster includes those new legends added specifically for the ‘Legends Showcase’ along with the other legends or current day stars (that may appear in their prime rather than based on last season) that will be available to use in the new modes. Two weeks ago 2K Sports made the downloadable content for NBA 2K12 official and today they have announced an additional 45 legends that will be included. These legends will only be available within the “Legends Showcase” – so they will not be transferable to regular Play Now, Association, or any other mode within the game. The 45 new legends will be in addition to over 160 others already found in 2K12 that can be used in “Legends Showcase”. Continue reading NBA 2k12 Legends Mode: 45 New Legends Added
NetherRealm Studios has announced that today it has released a “Hot Fix” for its latest installment of the MK Franchise on both the Xbox 360 & PS3. This hot fix is before the upcoming full patch and DLC for the years hottest fighting game. Things are looking good for this game as they could have just waited until June for the patch to arrive (hopefully solving intermittent lag issues) but they decided to do some minor tweaks and tuning ahead of that. Kung Lao has been dominating tourneys, Baraka and Sheeva are very low on the tier lists. With this update & the one to come it looks like it has solved this issue.
The first two downloadable characters will be Kenshi, a blind swordsman first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and Skarlet, a red female character based on a glitch in Mortal Kombat II. Besides the patch, the upcoming DLC also contains some “free stuff”. Skarlet was actually added to Mortal Kombat following a glitch in a previous game, which would turn Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile and some of the female characters red. The character was eventually released in the Mortal Kombat 3 game, but as she was left unnamed, the community decided to call her Skarlet. There had been previous reports that Skarlett would be appearing in the Mortal Kombat game, but she wasn’t officially announced until March 27th.
